The Morgan Sports Car Club's MogSquad group presents a new and unusual event: a fun experiment and some excellent scenery.TULIP V TECH
From MSCC’s library we took an old route from 2012 (developed by OxMog) described in the traditional turn-by-turn format with handwritten tulip diagrams. We asked AI (plus some brief human intervention) to convert this into modern mapping data - without visiting the location.
We thought it would be fun to drive the route — which is a particularly good one — with one group using the tulip maps and one using the untested navigation data (in MyRoute-App).
THE DRIVE
Let's start with two descriptions of the drive!

10 Hills tour in South Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire 2012
Welcome to our scenic run plan. The route takes us up and down the Chiltern Hills and enjoy some of the hills used for sprints in the 1920's. The roads are sometimes narrow, with embankments normal speed limits apply, also beware of oncoming traffic, cyclists and horse riders, who are out to enjoy these roads. Please drive safely, respect these roads and lanes and enjoy your drive.

This route explores some of the finest driving roads in the Chilterns, winding through rolling chalk hills, ancient beech woods, secluded valleys and quiet villages that have changed little over the centuries. Beginning near Watlington, the route follows a succession of narrow, flowing lanes with regular views across the Oxfordshire plain before climbing and descending through the wooded ridges around Princes Risborough, Wendover and Tring. Expect a varied landscape of open downland, shaded woodland, traditional brick-and-flint villages, and stretches of road that seem to have been made for an open-top Morgan, all within one of England’s most attractive National Landscapes.

LOGISTICS
Start with a briefing at 1000 on Monday 28 September, drive off around 1015.
End around noon with an informal light lunch.
Navigation will use MyRoute-App for which instructions and a tutorial will be sent to participants.
We would rate this run as:
- Driving difficulty: Easy
- Navigation difficulty: Easy, but we will be using a new app OR tulip paper maps
- Scenery potential: Good-Excellent
- Driving fun potential: Good

Drivers must be MSCC members (a condition of the Club’s insurance.)
