Libraries in Gaza: Exploring What These Spaces Mean
About
This workshop reflects on libraries not only as places filled with books, but as spaces of knowledge, memory, imagination, and community. Through stories, discussion, and reflective writing, participants will explore what libraries have meant to people in Gaza as places of learning, refuge, connection, and hope. The workshop is also connected to the destruction of Gaza’s libraries and the painful loss of cultural and intellectual heritage. At the same time, it reflects on how these spaces continued to remain a light for many people, even during times of devastation and displacement.
The session includes gentle writing exercises and invites participants to think about their own relationship with books, memory, and the spaces that shape who we are.
No previous writing experience is needed, and sharing is always optional.
This workshop will take place in person at the following address: Sonnenallee 100, 12045 Berlin, Germany
