📢Food Security for Equitable Futures Presents: SHORT COURSES II - 2026 - Online
Concepts and Methods in Food Insecurity Research in Global Majority Countries
Spaces are limited, so apply now by registering via this website!! Registrations must be submitted by 25th September 2026. We will be in contact with further details via email if you are selected.
The Short Courses Programme will kick off on 5th and 6th October with introductory sessions, which are mandatory for all selected participants. The remaining sessions will be held during October, allowing participants to pick and choose the sessions that are most relevant to their interests and needs. We will share details of specialised sessions with applicants who are accepted onto the course.

Understanding Food Insecurity and the Right to Food

Measuring Food Insecurity in Population Surveys
Speaker: Prof Carlo Cafiero, FAO

Designing Large-Scale Data Collection and Effective Data Dissemination for Data-Driven Health and Nutrition Programming
Speakers: Dr Praween Agrawal, UNICEF & Dr Sutapa Agrawal, Independent Monitoring Evaluation & Research Expert
Specialised Sessions (date and time will be communicated to the candidates accepted onto the course):
These will run through out October - it will be a mix of lectures and hands-on training. Topics will include:
- Integrating gender and women’s empowerment into research and development programming
- The Political Economy of Food Systems: Commercial Determinants, Ultra-Processed Foods, and Global Health Equity
- Risk, Rural Livelihoods and Food Security: Evidence from Farmers in Vietnam
- School meals globally: evidence and practice
- Matching data sources
- Using Rasch modelling for comparable estimates of food insecurity
- Introduction to Reflexive Thematic Analysis
- Administering Adult & Children Food Insecurity Measurement Scale
- Narrative analysis of semi-structured interviews
