Oxford Canal Festival Walk - 19 September (SOLD OUT)

An historical and literary walk along the towpath of the Oxford Canal as part of the day-long Oxford Canal Festival at Aristotle Lane (www.oxfordcanalheritage.org/oxford-canal-festival).
Led by Oxford local historian, author, and former long-term canalboat resident Mark Davies. The route will highlight notable landmarks along the Georgian waterway – one of Britain’s oldest – and the people associated with its construction, utility, and survival. From its original industrial purpose the canal has evolved to provide recreational, leisure, and residential uses, and is a green corridor for Nature. The historical continuity will be apparent in many ways, and will be brought up to date when passing Jericho, and its long-neglected boatyard.
There is no charge for this walk, but donations towards the Kilsby Boat Project (https://kilsbyboatproject.com) will be much appreciated.
NOTE: a return walk in reverse - FROM Aristotle Lane TO Hythe Bridge Street - will depart at 5pm. Bookings on the day only, at the Kilsby tent.
