This conference is hosted by the Centre for National Parks and Protected Areas (CNPPA) in partnership with the Food, Farming and Countryside Commission (FFCC).
We invite you to join the second in CNPPA’s series of conferences exploring how we can put into action some of the proposals from the Lanscapes Review, which was chaired by Julian Glover.
We welcome as Keynote Speaker: Dame Fiona Reynolds; a Commissioner of the FFCC, Master of Emmanuel College Cambridge and member of the Landscapes Review. A senior member of Defra will also address the conference.
70% of England’s land is farmed and the proportion of land farmed or grazed in our National Parks is nearer 80%. At the same time, we know we are living in a nature crisis.
- How can farming support the recovery of nature in our AONBs and National Parks?
- Will ELM and Defra schemes enable this to happen?
We will explore two core proposals on nature from the Landscapes Review, discussing actions that would make these a reality:
Proposal 4: National landscapes should form the backbone of Nature Recovery Networks – joining things up within and beyond their boundaries.
Proposal 5: A central place for national landscapes in new Environmental Land Management Schemes.
You will have the chance to hear inspiring speakers, submit ‘lightning presentations’ and contribute in workshops.
Confirmed Speakers and Workshop Chairs:
- Dame Fiona Reynolds
- Emma Browning - Cornwall AONB Partnership Manager
- Kevin Bishop - CEO Dartmoor National Park Authority
- Jake Fiennes - Head of Conservation, Holkham Estate
- Elaine King - CEO Chilterns AONB
- Richard Leafe - CEO The Lake District
- Ruth Little - University of Sheffield
- Sion McGeever - Defra Deputy Director, Landscapes, Peat and Soils
- Robin Milton - Chair of UK National Parks and the Exmoor National Park Authority
The number of delegates is limited to enable meaningful conversations in the breakout workshops.
We are particularly keen to invite active participation from farmers from across England’s National Landscapes.
