Windermere RunSteamRun
We’ll meet at the Waterhead LDNPA carpark at 9:30am. After introductions and a briefing, we’ll set off to hike up the footpath head up towards Jenkins Crag
We'll follow the trails through Skelgylls Wood, taking in the tallest tree in England, and the amazing Troutbeck Hundreds. Descending into Troutbeck, we'll then pick up Garburn Pass, and follow the paths that bring us up the rear of the incredible Orrest Head. From there, it's hot-footing it downhill through the tourist hotspots of Windermere and Bowness-on-Windermere to make it to the steamer pier and our return journey to Ambleside
Distance wise it'll be around 12k. Please note, there will be regular stops to re-group - the focus is us keeping together and having a social experience. It is very likely that we’ll walk some sections. The route including the boat journey will take around three hours
You must be able to carry a hat, gloves and waterproof jacket along with a drink. Ideally you'll also carry some trail snacks to keep you sustained. Be prepared to take lots of stunning pictures (weather permitting!)
