Summer Holiday Clubs in Southsea 2023

This summer Portsmouth High School is offering 4 weeks of Holiday Club activities.

Year groups are for academic year 2022-23

WEEK 1 Monday 24 July to Friday 28 July

Active Summer for ages 3 - 7 (Pre-School to Year 2)A full range of sporting and creative activities, including dance, that will bring out the best of summer in Southsea.

Theatre Club (week) for ages 7-11 (KS2) 

How might the Greeks have performed the story of Humpty Dumpty? Or how might Shakespeare have written it? A fun week of creative sessions exploring different Drama styles and genre and then applying them to your favourite rhyme or story. We will also learn about basic prop making and how to use lighting and sound effects to make your drama really interesting.

WEEK 2 Monday 31 July to Friday 4 August

Creative Arts Camp for ages 3 - 7 years (Pre-School to Year 2)
This is a fun and creative arts and crafts Summer themed week. 

Summer Science Club (Week) for ages 8 - 11 years (Year 4 to Year 6) Located in the senior school's Science Department, these summer themed science clubs will be run by our own science teacher Ms Davies. These activities are suitable for all budding scientists who love to make scientific discoveries whether they aspire to be Brian Cox or Marie Curie. 

Summer Cookery for ages 7 - 11 years (Year 3 to Year 6)Summer cookery will take place in the senior school's fabulous Food Technology Room. It will be run by Mrs Hitchman and this activity is suitable for all budding chefs who love to create a variety of savoury and sweet summer delights.

Please note that the cookery club menu and actvities will be different from Week 2 to Week 4.

WEEK 3 - Monday 7 August to Friday 11 August

The Great Outdoors for ages 3 - 11 (Pre-School to Year 6)

Taking place in the beautiful grounds of Portsmouth High Prep School, outdoor fun is an activity that offers play and educational experiences in the natural environment. From making fires to understanding nature, this is the ultimate for any future Bear Grylls or Steve Backshall.

The Apprentice (Week) for ages 7 - 11 (Year 3 to Year 6) The Apprentice is back after a successful 2022. It's aim is to develop a fresh batch of budding ambitious entrepreneurs seeking to develop their creative insight and business sense to develop new products, then pitching the product or idea to the boardroom at the end of the day.

Over the week the candidates will participate in 5 individual tasks that will take place at various Southsea attractions and locations (weather dependent). Each task will be different ranging from selling, design, developing, making and marketing the new products and attractions. Up to 12 candidates will be working in teams, developing their leadership, management and entrepreneural skills. There will be plenty of fun over the week and some games and sporting activities included to take a break from the boardroom.

After completing each task, teams return to the boardroom to discuss their inspirational or calamitous experiences and discover which team has been hired.

WEEK 4 - Monday 14 August to Friday 18 August

Seaside Fun for age 3 to 6 years (Pre-School to Year 1)This fun and creative activities themed camp for pupils will make the most of our wonderful location beside the sea.

Sports Club for ages 6 to 11 years (Year 2 to Year 6)Run by trampoline coach Mr Whitelock, the week will use sports facilities across the senior and prep school sites and will incorpoarate trampoline, games and tennis.

Booking information

Please make separate bookings for each child attending Holiday Club.

When using childcare vouchers, please enter the promotion code CHILDCARE into the promotion code box located in the your shopping cart.

You can book the full week or individual days for your child.

If an activity is sold out, please contact our finance team on 02392 826714 to check latest availaibility.Drop-off will be from 8am - 9am and collection from 4pm - 5pm each day.

Holiday Clubs Terms and Conditions

Changing your booking
Seven days notice is required and the school will endeavour to change the dates within the same holiday season (e.g. summer), subject to availability. If you request a change to an activity that is more expensive, then you will be charged the difference between the two.

Cancelling your booking
A minimum of 14 days notice is required to cancel a booking. All monies paid will be refunded less the equivalent of £10 per day cancellation fee. In the case of cancellations with less than 14 days notice, we regret that no refund is available except in the case of injury/illness which has been certified in writing by a registered medical practitioner accompanied by a letter to the school.

Insurance
All children in our care are covered by our Public Liability Insurance.

First Aid
In the event of an accident, first aid will be administered to children in our care, and the emergency services will be called if necessary.

Child Exclusion
If, on the rare occasion that a child proves incompatible with the general well-being of the group e.g. bullying, disruptive or aggressive behaviour, the school reserves the right to exclude such children. No refund will be made for any remaining days booked and any costs associated with the exclusion, including transport home, will be the parent’s responsibility.

Late collection

Please note that there is also a standing charge of £10 for after 5.00pm collection.

Please note: children are required to bring packed lunches and snacks every day.  Portsmouth High School is happy to accept Childcare Vouchers as payment for Holiday Club. For a list of providers, and the relevant codes, please click here.
