Opera at the Castle 2023
With a completely new programme of music, this will be our third time performing at the beautiful Chiddingstone Castle Orangery -
the perfect location to enjoy great music, fabulous costumes and (hopefully) wonderful summer weather.
Performances at 2pm and 6pmBring a picnic or visit the Castle's tea room and enjoy some of the finest music on earth in a lovely settingThis is an event which suits either those who love opera already or who want to find out more without attending a full show.
Children are also very welcome and there is space to get up and move around if you need to.
Pieces will be individually introduced so that you don't have to be familiar with the shows to know what they are or what is going on!
With a few exceptions, the whole programme will be sung in English.
The programme will include:
Bridal Chorus (Lohengrin)
Dido's Lament (Dido and Aeneas)
Seguidilla (Carmen)
Flower Duet (Lakme)
Soldiers' Chorus (Faust)
Choruses from Die Fledermaus
Ticket prices are £25 per adult, free for children up to and including ages 16, and £22.50 per ticket for adults making bookings for groups of 10 or more people.
Chiddingstone Castle itself is a lovely destination for making a day of it and are offering reduced entry for those attending our performances:£8 per adult and £3 child, instead of the usual £11 and £5.50. Carers and children under 5 are free.
For our performancess, the auditorium will be on the lawns in front of the Orangery so please bring chairs or a rug.
Please note that the auditorium area will open thirty minutes before the performances (at 1:30pm and 5:30pm).
