Identifying Movement Patterns
About
Explore the Kestenberg movement patterns with primates at Edinburgh Zoo. This two-day training will focus on the tension flow rhythms and therefore how an individuals’ needs are expressed through movement. You will explore the language that describes infant development, individual personality traits, and how these present during adulthood through embodied and creative methods. You will have opportunities to develop your attuned observational skills by identifying movement patterns of primates and other animals within the zoo.The Kestenberg Movement Profile (KMP) is a system developed from Laban/Bartenieff Movement Analysis to provide an in-depth understanding of non-verbal behaviour and patterns of movement. Our experiences are acknowledged both physically and emotionally within our body and are often stored as habitual movement patterns, the KMP therefore provides an understanding of individuals’ feelings and emotions as well as some insight into their past experiences.
