Revealing Hadrian's Wall - Section 2 (Carlisle to Banks)
About
A series of detailed investigations along the line of Hadrian's Wall, beginning in the west at Bowness-on-Solway.Section 2 follows the line of the Wall from Carlisle to Banks Turret looking for evidence of where the Wall once lay and describes other features of interest along the way.
On this virtual tour, we will first take a perambulation around the fort of Uxellodunum in Carlisle and then visit the newly discovered military bath-house belonging to this fort. We will see a Roman tombstone actually built into the facade of a house, and begin to pick up the line of Hadrian's Wall ever more clearly. Geophys, Lidar and a recent archaeological excavation will all add invaluable information to our quest for understanding Hadrian's Wall.
