Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking (MSHT) Awareness Training

Overview:

This is a Lancaster District CVS Bitesize Information Session in partnership with Hope for Justice. 

Hope for Justice is a global and national charity with a mission to bring an end to modern slavery by preventing exploitation, reaching victims, restoring lives, and reforming society and we are part of an ongoing national and international campaign around modern slavery and labour exploitation. We are pleased to be able to offer free training to Lancaster CVS members and partner organisations to raise awareness and to help identify and support potential cases of modern slavery and human trafficking across Lancashire and the North West of England.

Learning Outcomes: 

The training will provide participants with an overview of modern slavery and human trafficking and will cover the following: 

• Definitions of modern slavery and human trafficking
• The different types of modern slavery that exist
• Situations and types of work where modern slavery has been found to occur
• Support available if a potential victim of modern slavery is identified 

Target Audience:

The briefing is aimed at Lancaster CVS members and partner organisations.  At the end of the briefing participants will be given details to book additional free training for their services if they think this will be relevant and useful.

Delivery Methods:

• Ruth Packwood, Hope for Justice Training Specialist, will deliver the training.
• The training will be delivered online over TEAMS as a one-hour late afternoon briefing session
• The session will include national and local facts and figures, case studies and examples to show that this is a crime happening hidden in plain sight within our local communities
• Minimum 12 participants per session
• Due to the sensitive nature and content of the training, we apply a trauma informed approach to all our training so participants will be able to choose whether to have their camera on during the training 
• An HfJ Community Engagement Specialist will aim to be present during the training to answer any specific queries relating to vulnerable people or those at risk of exploitation
• Participants will be provided with a copy of the HfJ Training Manual and other support materials
• Participants will be asked to complete feedback at the end of the training
