The open day visitors can learn about our Red Countess. The Countess of Warwiuck became a fully paid up socialist in 1904 and installed Red Vicars in Thaxted and Tilty churches. Our Archivists will be displaying information and pictues to tell her story.
The Gardens look beautiful in May, with Tulips, Irises and Roses and a variety of other wild and cultivated flowers, and herbs bringing colour to Peto's Italian Garden the walled kitchen garden and the Glade.
Our treehouse is always popular with children of all ages, along with Kim our elephant statue, a reminder of the Countess of Warwick's baby elephant.
Hot bacon, cheese or houmous rolls will be availabe until they run out - or until 14:30, also a wide range of homemade cakes and hot and cold drinks.
Disabled parking available near Gate. The carer for a disabled visitor does not need to purchase a ticket. Disabled toilet facilities are also available.
