Colet Choral Society, the community choir of the two St Paul’s Schools, joins up again with St Paul’s Camerata to put on a performance of Howard Goodall’s Eternal Light: A Requiem. Written in 2008, the work sets a number of English poems alongside core texts of the Requiem Mass, but with an emphasis on loss and grief experienced by those left after a loved one dies. In that sense it is a Requiem for the living, rather than the dead. Howard Goodall is a local composer, well known for his work in film, stage musicals and especially in television, where he has been a prolific composer and presenter. His gift for crafting memorable melodies and his own background in the English choral tradition make Eternal Light an accessible yet thought-provoking Requiem for our time.Location
