An organ skills day for aspiring young organistsA series of short interactive workshops for young organists (aged 11-21) introducing skills such as improvisation, setting registration and accompanying services. Sessions will take place in Belmont Abbey and St Martin’s Church, Hereford (transport will be provided) culminating in Evensong at Hereford Cathedral, where there will be a chance to see how to register and accompany on the ‘Father’ Willis organ.
12.45 Meet at Belmont Abbey
13.15 Session 1: Belmont Abbey (Introduction to the Organ, Improvising and Service Accompaniment)
14.15 Depart, by minibus, to St Martin’s
14.30 Session 2: St Martin’s Church (Introduction to the Organ, How to Practise) to include second-hand music sale.
15.40 Depart for Hereford Cathedral
16.00 Session 3: Hereford Cathedral (Evensong and Registration)
16.45 Tea at Hereford Cathedral School
17.20 Return to Cathedral for Evensong
17.30 Evensong
18.20 Final discussion and departure
