Reimagining Rooms: Ethel Sands, Vanessa Bell and Gwen John (CANCELLED)
About
In the first decades of the twentieth century, reforms to reproductive rights, marriage laws and the fight for political and sexual freedom changed women's relationship to domestic space. Sands, Bell and John were amongst those artists who retreated inside and painted the rooms in which they lived and worked.Rebecca Birrell is a Leverhulme Trust Early Career Fellow at the University of St Andrews. She was formerly Curator of 19th and 20th Century Paintings & Drawings at The Fitzwilliam Museum, University of Cambridge.
