Returning to talk to our JAGS community Karla Dicker, Deputy Director, The Life Skills Company will be talking about the how best to support children with effective GCSE learning and revision. Karla will highlight ways in which we can actively help our children with study skills, revision and motivation.

This talk is designed to coincide with our Year 10 pupils participating in the Maximising Success workshop also delivered by Karla and her team; developing and trying out strategies for effective, enjoyable and proactive revision and learning. The Parent Talk will be of particular relevance for parents of children in Year 9 and above, however everyone is welcome.

Karla joined The Life Skills Company in 2021 after graduating from the University of Southampton where she completed her BA Spanish degree. Karla has supported learning in diverse educational settings including as an English Language Assistant in Andalusia, Spain. She is passionate about young people’s access to higher education and having a positive influence on students’ academic and personal development. Her passion for fulfilling young people’s potential endures as she runs a Spanish language club every summer with children on free school meals.

Outside of work, Karla is an avid netball player and volunteers in the community with children in care. One of her favourite quotes is “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” Maya Angelou.
