Following the success of our online training course in Ancient Woodland Restoration, we are pleased to offer expert days out with our team.  
The day gives you the opportunity to spend time with Jamie Chaplin-Brice and Carrie Hedges as they take you on a tour of one of three very special woodland sites. The day will be faciliatated to meet the needs of the group and any specific questions or themes that individuals want to explore in more depth.  

Who is Jamie?
Jamie works with ancient woodland owners (including Plantation on Ancient Woodland Sites), looking at current practice and improvements to enhance ancient woodland resilience. He has a broad understanding of woodland management and also helps owners with general woodland advice. In the past he has worked as a community forest manager, overseeing harvesting, forest design planning and operations. Outside of Cumbria Woodlands, Jamie operates a sawmill producing sawn timber and beams and makes furniture.  
 
Who is Carrie?
Carrie is a forestry consultant specialising in providing land owner advice, developing research, and authoring training materials in woodland creation and management, and related environmental subjects such as carbon. She is a PhD Researcher looking at the habitat preferences and influence of climate on montane scrub trees in the UK. Previously, Carrie worked for Forest and Land Scotland (Galloway), then in several roles at the University of Cumbria including teaching conservation strategies and ecology, various research and development roles in outdoor learning and nature connection, and interdisciplinary land management and policy as the Development Officer at the Centre for National Parks and Protected Areas.
