About
Conductor - Emma KentSoloist - Emily Sun
Rossini: Overture - The Thieving Magpie
Bruch: Violin Concerto No.1 in G minor
Florence Price: Symphony No.1 in E minor
The Wolsey Orchestra is thrilled to welcome local conductor Emma Kent to come and work with them in their second visit to RHS this year. In the first half of the
concert, they will be joined by up-and-coming Australian violinist Emily Sun in a performance of one of the most popular violin concertos of all time - Bruch’s Violin
Concerto No.1. And in the second half of the concert the orchestra will be performing the little-known Symphony No.1 by Florence Price. With strong hints of Dvorák’s New World Symphony, this symphony - the first to be written by a black woman and to be performed by a major American orchestra – has recently been “rediscovered” and is now receiving a great deal of attention/praise on both sides of the Atlantic.
So book your tickets early - you’re in for a real treat here!
