UPDATE: The River Kent is currently in front of the Island, so the Guide will decide on the day if deemed safe to cross to the island.However, Collins weir has been added, as this famous sighting is visible for the first time in 78 years!
Join us for our walk to the beautiful Chapel Island which nestles in the Leven Estuary in the stunning sands of Morecambe Bay.
This unique walk sets off along the headland of Sandgate, where we will stroll along the sands to enjoy the breathtaking vastness of the bay. The walk continues to Chapel Island, where those wishing to, can explore the island observing the vast array wildlife all around.
The walk begins at, and returns to, Sandgate near Flookburgh, and whilst not a difficult walk, participants are advised to have a decent standard of fitness. You will be safely guided across the shifting sands by expert Raymond Porter.
The walk is around 5- 6 miles there and back, taking approx. three hours to complete.
