About
Cassandra Parkin is an award-winning novelist and short-story writer, and the East Riding of Yorkshire’s first Poet Laureate.She is a member of Hull’s acclaimed Women of Words collective, producing a
monthly poetry and performance event in conjunction with the Hull Libraries service for women and non-binary artists from around the region.
As a solo artist and as part of Women of Words, she has made spoken word
works for the Humber Mouth Literature Festival, the Hull Freedom Festival
and the BBC’s Contains Strong Language festival. She believes writing and
performing poetry is something everyone can take part in, and is committed to
helping writers at all stages of development find and share their unique voices
with the world.
