Polite persuasion or bombs? Join Helen Howell on this guided walk which follows in the footsteps of Preston women fighting for the right to vote and discover their tactics. Most people have heard of Edith Rigby because her aunt Pheobe Hesketh wrote a book 'My Aunt Edith'. However, many Preston women were as courageous and as brave as her, but little is known about them. Learn about the Preston Suffragettes and Suffragists who played a part in the national campaign to gain equal suffrage. The photograph shows Preston Women ready to begin their march from Preston to London in 1913 where over 50000 women and men assembled on Hyde Park.Tickets Only: Walk starts at the Obelisk, Flag Market, Cheapside, Preston PR1 2AP and finishes at the 1842 ( Former Public Hall Lune Street).
