Chimney Pots & Chamber Pots: 19th Century Lancashire Housing

About
This illustrated lecture is concerned with the attempts made to improve working-class accommodation standards in Lancashire during the 19th century. Consideration is given to the varying types of changes that were implemented and the advances they brought about. But the emphasis is on the types of houses erected and the heating provision within them, as well as on sanitation methods. Both physical and documentary evidence is used to demonstrate how the changes that occurred can be investigated. The 'great chimney pots' feature! An illustrated talk by Prof. Geoff Timmins.
