Swop Shop Skill Share Network - Heart of the Community Workshop
About
Is your centre the beating heart of your community? If not now, does it have the real potential to be just that with a few good ideas and a commitment to meeting local need? Join us for our regular skill sharing and networking Swop Shop, where this time, we will focus on all things related to running a community, centre-based provision. This is for you if you are involved in managing and/or running:
- a community centre
- a church or other faith-based hall
- a village hall or institute
We are inviting colleagues to share their skills and best practices in identifying, managing and realising the potential of your community asset(s) and developing engaging community centre-based activities . The workshop recognises that YOU are all the experts in this field and provides a space and platform to share examples of the bread and butter of what you deliver each week, plus the innovative project ideas that you have developed in response to community needs and drawing down funding. It also provides an opportunity to look at the challenges and solutions when running a physical asset such as a building, whether you own, lease or rent the space, including the financial, legal and maintenance implications.
- Skills sharing: Learn from other organisation’s successful strategies
- Best Practices: Discover innovative approaches to community engagement
- Peer Support: Collaborate and problem solve in a supportive space
Hosted by EMUES UK CIC at the Ridge Community Centre, the session will start with an overview of the activity they provide, before we break into topic-based working and networking groups.
