Open Farm Sunday 2025 at Deepdale Farm, Norfolk

About
The whole family is welcome at this FREE event. Come and visit our organic arable farm on the North Norfolk Coast. Learn about the connections between people, food, farming and nature. Find out how we farm alongside nature, how we are improving the health of our soil health and trying to prevent flooding in the village. Explore our machinery, find out about bats, owls and invertebrates, have a go at woodworking or enjoy a guided farm walk.
Our farmyard will be open from 10am - 4pm. You are welcome to visit at a time that suits you. However, if you would like to join the farm walk, then please arrive in time to depart at 11.30am. This year there is only one farm walk.
The walk is about 3km, approx. 1.5hr, with regular stops and discussions about our crops, regenerative and organic farming practices, woodland and wildlife. It will take you to areas of the farm not usually open to the public, with fantastic views of Scolt Head Island and Brancaster Harbour. We have found this walk is most appropriate for ages 12+, but this is at your discretion depending on your child’s interest in farming and wildlife, and their capacity for a good walk.
We are still confirming some of our activities, but here’s a taste of what you will be able to experience in our farmyard:
- Climb up into a combine to imagine the view come harvest time
- Unpick an owl pellet to discover what our resident barn owls feast on
- Have a go at green woodworking and see what you could create
- Learn about the support that Norfolk Rivers Trust provides to farmers
- Discover the nocturnal world of bats with Norfolk & Norwich Bat Group
- Find out about the birds that call our farm home with the Iceni Bird Monitoring Group
- Discover where our grain goes to and what food it becomes
The event is free, but please book ahead so we can plan appropriately.
Please come suitably dressed for the weather, with decent shoes/boots for walking as there will be some dirt tracks and uneven ground both on the walk and within the farmyard.
Dogs are welcome if kept on a short lead at all times.
The guided farm walk is on level ground with a gentle uphill climb. Please be aware that we will be walking on fields and crossing field boundaries; this walk may not be suitable for wheelchair users. Please email us with any queries.
There will be equipment and machinery on display in the farmyard. If you have children, for health and safety reasons, please ensure they do not climb on it unless invited to do so. Children remain the responsibility of their adult, and must be supervised, at all times.
