Join Angus Walsh (Cumbria Woodlands rainforest lead) and John Hodgson (Project Officer for Restoring Hardknott Forest) for a walk to discover rainforest indicator species of lichen and bryophyte.Restoring Hardknott Forest is a partnership between the University of Leeds and Forestry England who are restoring one of Cumbria’s largest coniferous forests to native temperate rainforest habitat.
You will will learn
- how conifer plantations can be converted to native woodland
- how this can form the basis for a new area of temperate rainforest
- what a temperate rainforest is in Cumbria
- how you will know if you’re in a temperate rainforest
Dogs are welcome, but must be on leads at all times.
