Basketball England Level 2 Award
This is the standard level of coaching qualification for all club coaches at local level. The award gives a general overview of all aspects of basketball, and a basic introduction to sports coaching.

•Planning and delivering training session
•Individual fundamentals
•Team fundamentals
•Developing team play
•Sports science
Who is the course for?
Individuals who usually attend this course are likely to be experienced players or sports students, club coaches, school teachers, coaches that deliver Basketball in schools.
What’s the value of this course?
This course is ideal for learners who are seeking voluntary or paid roles as an independent basketball coach.
Learner eligibility
Learners must:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Be appropriately identified
- Hold a level 1 basketball coach award or witness statement from a coach in their club to evidence experience of delivering basketball sessions over the last 12 months
- Have a basic understanding and good experience of basketball and delivering to groups
- Be able to communicate effectively in English (this includes listening, speaking, reading and writing).
Assessment (if applicable)
Learners for this award shall be assessed by the course tutor continuously during the course. Throughout the course, students will be required to undertake coaching of small groups. There is also a final assessment which will consist of an approved Basketball England assessor observing a session to evidence the learner's coaching of individual fundamentals and team fundamentals. Learners are also required to complete linked and progressive sessions away from the course, prior to the final day,
Format / duration
The course is usually delivered over 2 practical days and 5 virtual classroom sessions.
