The 1st4sport Level 3 Award in Assessing Vocationally-Related Achievement assesses learning and development of practitioners’ performances in carrying out assessments of vocational skills, knowledge and understanding in environments other than the work environment (i.e. a simulated environment).

Course description

The 1st4sport Level 3 Award in Assessing Vocationally-Related Achievement assesses learning and development of practitioners’ performances in carrying out assessments of vocational skills, knowledge and understanding in environments other than the work environment (i.e. a simulated environment). The qualification is transferable to any sector your learners have occupational competence in, and provides a national benchmark of good practice for England.

Who is the course for?

This qualification attracts aspiring assessors who wish to assess on vocational coaching courses (where learner assessments are simulated). It is designed for current Learning and Development practitioners and those new to the role of assessor. Individuals must have access within their current role to assess learners on qualifications or accredited programmes of study with assessments in the relevant environment.

The qualification is designed for those with technical competence in the subject area/sport they wish to deliver / assess.

What's the value of the course?

This qualification may lead learners to paid or voluntary roles within their specialist subject area, assessing knowledge based qualifications, and vocational qualifications which have non-work based assessment. The qualification is recognised as the industry standard vocational skills assessing qualification for the further education and skills sector by the Education & Training Foundation.

Leaner eligibility

Learners must:

•Be at least 18 years of age

•Be appropriately identified

•Be able to communicate effectively in English (this includes listening, speaking, reading and writing)

•Have access to assess non-work environment qualifications/assessments.

Please note; this qualification is not appropriate for practitioners aspiring to assess NVQs or other work-based competency qualifications. It is also recommended that learners have an appropriate vocational or competency-based qualification at least one level above the qualification they will be assessing.

Assessment

To achieve the qualification, learners are required to have, assessed evidence of:

•an appropriate knowledge and understanding of assessing vocational achievement, which will be assessed via performance, tasks and assignments.

•Planning, conducting and reviewing learner assessments observation of assessment practice.

•delivery of the two planned assessments for two learners in a nonwork environment (away from the course)

Assessor Criteria

Due to the assessment requirements for this qualification, learners need to be observed assessing in their own environment. Learners are welcome to source their own assessors (that meet the assessor criteria). Alternatively, we can support in sourcing an appropriately qualified assessor. Format / duration

This qualification involves face to face tutored delivery, a virtual tutored session and completion of portfolio tasks. Learners are required to have access within their current role, to assess learners on qualifications or accredited programmes of study in order to complete all elements of the qualification. Progression opportunities

Learners who achieve this award and wish to progress to the 1st4sport Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement can take advantage of recognition of prior learning (RPL), as some of the knowledge required to achieve the Certificate may have already been generated and some of the units in the qualification will already have been achieved. Alternatively, learners could seek to gain the 1st4sport Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice if they are looking to become an internal verifier.
