Beatrice Blackhurst's Scrapbook: Early 20th Century Preston
About
Beatrice Blackhurst was a prolific campaigner and supporter of good causes in Preston, especially those that supported women’s issues. Her scrapbook contains mementoes and memories from the 1900s to the 1940s and shines a light into the world of this former domestic servant, who climbed the social ladder through marriage, and used her energies to improve conditions for others. Incorporating the memories of her grandson, this talk also touches on family life in Lancashire in the 1950s.An illustrated talk by Helen Howell.
