Preston and its Region in the Domesday Book and beyond
About
The Domesday survey of 1086 gathered only a sparse account of Preston and its region. Nevertheless, Great Domesday book records many of the first references to place names in what became Lancashire. This talk asks what this source and other evidence (textual and non-textual) can tell us about Preston and the surrounding area in the eleventh century. An illustrated talk by Prof. Fiona Edmunds.
