That's Entertainment! Rise and Fall of Preston's Guild Hall
About
Constructed half a century ago alongside the iconic bus station, Preston’s Guild Hall and Charter Theatre aimed to provide an eclectic mix of arts, culture and thrills. This ambitious and innovative multi-function complex was part of a wave of purpose-built civic theatres constructed across Britain in the 1960s and 70s. This talk will look at what was going on then, what have been the highs and lows along the way, and why the Guild Hall faces such an uncertain future today. An illustrated talk by Michael Akers.

Doors open at 6:30pm for refreshments and registration.
