A Voice for King Richard
About
In her keynote address 'A Voice for King Richard III: Separating the Man from the Myth and Clues towards his Vocal Profile' Yvonne Morley-Chisholm will talk about a ten-year journey to bring together experts from diverse fields in a pioneering collaboration. This team includes specialists in craniofacial reconstruction, historical linguistics, forensic psychology, speech and language therapy, history, archaeology, ethology, and 4D motion capture. Her goal? To create a ‘living’ face of King Richard III, allowing him to speak his own words in his original pronunciation.
This groundbreaking work, described as the new science of historical human reconstruction, reached a major milestone in November 2024 at its international launch event, where the first of three pieces was unveiled: a facial avatar of King Richard, seen and heard for the first time in centuries. This project sets the stage for future historical reconstructions, revolutionising how we experience the past.
