Family-owned Sheffield dairy farm Our Cow Molly is evolving to become fully powered by green energy. More than that: it’s set to become a producer of clean hydrogen energy for Sheffield - whilst continuing to produce some of the best milk and ice-cream around.This means that Our Cow Molly’s Open Farm event this year is a bit different: rather than focusing on dairy farming activity, we’ll be sharing how the dairy farm is evolving and focusing on its plans to capture and utilise solar and wind power and anaerobic digestion.
You'll be able to book a short energy tour and talk and learn how solar, wind and anaerobic digestion will be used to power the dairy farm for years to come. You'll also learn how surplus hydrogen energy will be sold to the community. Electrifying.
We've invited energy partners to showcase products (and hopefully a hydrogen powered tractor but watch this space!) And as well as being able to buy our icecream we'll have refreshment stands run by local vendors.
