Summer Concert 2025 - Love and Marriage
Location
Snods Edge, St John's Church and Community Hall
About
An informal evening of music in St John's Church (first half), and Snods Edge Community hall (2nd half, just next door), with light refreshments provided and a licenced bar available
The first half - musical settings of the Song of Songs, from Palestrina, Bairstow, Ola Gjeilo and others. In particular Palestrina - it's his 500th anniversary, and we'll hear his settings of excerpts very much in his own churchy idiom, but with some rather racy texts!
The second half - a light-hearted and mixed bag of musical offerings around love and marriage; Madrigals, folk songs from past and present, songs from the Jazz age, the odd number from Elvis, The Beatles, and more.
