About

Join internationally renowned master drummer Sidiki Dembélé and very special guests Percussion d'Abobo for an immersive, high-energy djembe workshop with Drums Aloud in Halesowen on Saturday 8th November 2025, running from 10am to 4pm. This workshop offers an opportunity to dive deep into the traditional rhythms of West Africa, focusing on the musical heritage of the Mandé people. You will learn a full rhythm from start to finish, covering djembe technique, dundun parts, and ensemble arrangements, all taught in Sidiki’s dynamic, engaging style.

Whether you've trained with Sidiki before or have followed his work and are ready to experience his teaching in person, this workshop promises rich musical learning, strong group connection, and serious groove! Sidiki will be joined by his incredibly talented group of musicians all the way from Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire - Percussion d'Abobo - who will support and enrich the learning experience. More will be revealed closer to the date, but rest assured, you're in for something very special!

The day will include a West African-style catered lunch, giving you a chance to relax, connect, and enjoy a taste of the culture that inspires the music. There will also be a raffle to raise funds for Building Futures in The Gambia, a grassroots charity working to improve access to education for young people.

Places are limited to maintain an intimate, high-quality learning environment. Bring a djembe (drums can be provided if needed, please let us know when booking), your energy, your curiosity, and your love of rhythm. This is not just a workshop – it’s a celebration of tradition, community, and the power of West African music to connect and inspire.
