Rethinking the thinking on inequalities
About
The Racial Equity in Policy Network is delighted to have Dr Naoimh McMahon share an illustrated booklet of visual metaphors that she has put together to communicate some of the key learning and insights from her Wellcome Funded project exploring how inequalities take shape as a problem across different health and social policy domains. Her work outlines what might be keeping inequalities in place and, importantly, provides ideas on how to disrupt institutionalised ways of thinking to create the space to respond differently to inequalities.Naoimh is gathering feedback on this resource from various groups and will present some initial findings from the pilot testing of the illustrated resource, along with reflections on how it might be further refined and developed to offer practical value to people in their everyday thinking and work.
We will then reflect and discuss how this rethinking can be applied to addressing racial inequalities in health and social policy contexts.
