Drwm Y Ddraig presents - Weekend Djembe Workshop with Sidiki Dembélé!

An unmissable two full days of immersive West African drumming with World Class Djembefola Sidiki Dembélé, a master drummer and multi-instrumentalist from Côte d'Ivoire, born into a lineage of Malian Griot musicians and oral historians. He will be bringing the energy of West Africa to North Wales, and sharing his culture and traditions with you through the power of the djembe!

Please note that this Weekend Workshop is aimed at players at the intermediate and above level and is not suitable for complete beginners, see below for further clarification. Come ready to be challenged and leave with a happy heart and a mind full of amazing rhthms!

AfroFfest Evening Performance

Come and celebrate with us in the heart of Eryri (Snowdonia) bringing the sounds of West Africa to UNESCO World Heritage Site town, Blaenau Ffestiniog. This special night is a fundraising event to buy drums to create a local community drumming group and regular workshops open to all.

We are delighted to announce we have Sefo Kanuteh a virtuosic, soulful and authentic Kora and Balafon player playing alongside world class Master Djembefola Sidiki Dembélé. 

The night will be rounded off with DJ's and plenty of dancing, with food available to purchase also.

Experience Levels

This event is NOT suitable for beginners. The experience levels this event is aimed at are:

• Intermediate - Some experience of djembe playing, can play well within a group and hold a rhythm
• Advanced Intermediate - Experienced djembe player, can play more complex rhythms and phrases
• Advanced - Very experienced player, can confidentently play solo phrases and easily recall long and complex patterns
