The Tippett Quartet commemorate Bernard Herrmann who died 50 years ago - a composer who revolutionised film music and was particularly noted for his collaborations with Orson Welles and Alfred Hitchcock. The concert includes Herrmann’s groundbreaking music to Psycho and music by Nathan Johnson for the highly acclaimed whodunnit Knives Out which was written for the Tippett Quartet. “The cherry on the cake is Nathan Johnson’s terrifically ripe score, as sharp and spiralling as the theatrical crown of knives that hangs behind key interrogation scenes, pointing and prodding accusingly as we wait for the sword of Damocles to drop.” The Guardian
