Sunday 2 November 2025: One Day, Two Concerts
2.00pm - Quiet Music - with mezzo-soprano Bethany Horak-Hallett and pianist Natalie Burch - an hour of immersive songs by Hildegard of Bingen through to Nico Muhly, gathering in Hildegard of Bingen, Nico Muhly, Duparc, Schubert, Clara Schumann and Mahler among others.
6.30pm - Mirrors, landscapes - with Bass-baritone Florian Störtz and Nancy Cooley, piano. A recital of English and German song, beginning with a set of Butterworth songs, On Bredon Hill, and ending with settings by John Hawkins of three Edward Thomas poems, Strange Bridge. In between they focus on late romantic German Lieder by Alma and Gustav Mahler, Sibelius, Zemlinsky and Strauss, mainly to poems by Richard Dehmel.
