Ida Pelliccioli: Debussy & Influences
About
Acclaimed pianist Ida Pelliccioli returns to the Cathedral's Fratry Hall in 2026 presenting a new programme of pieces celebrating the work of Claude Debussy and his influences. This programme aims to create echoes between the music of Debussy and the music of two composers that influenced him. On one hand, Rameau, which Debussy described as the pinnacle of the French tradition. On the other hand, Albeniz, as an example of how Debussy found an important source of inspiration in reimagining the music of foreign lands. Ida is a Paris-based pianist who regularly tours across Europe. This programme includes a selection of Bach Transcriptions by Busoni, Liszt, Kempff and Brahms, reminding us of the double musical potential and interest of this form. They us the musical thinking of a composer moved and inspired by the artistry of other composers, understanding that the musical substance of the underlying works is not static but capable of constant reworking and evolution.
