A play for today. No Exit, Jean-Paul Sartre’s most famous play and considered a masterpiece was first performed in 1944, however, it is just as relevant today as it was then. A particular truth in today’s society with the rise of social media. The most famous line in the play, “Hell is other people” encapsulates the idea that we all feel constantly scrutinised by others and the way we think about ourselves and the growing perception that other people have of us.
