Introducing...The Year of Matthew (2nd of 2 seminars)
About
Led by Canon Peter SillsAlthough placed first in the New Testament, Matthew’s Gospel was the second to be written. Composed around AD70 for a Jewish Christian community, possibly situated in Syria, it has a distinctive style and layout. The first Zoom seminar, 20 Nov 2025, explored when, why and by whom the Gospel was written, the sources on which it is based, its distinctive features, and its major themes. This second seminar, will look more closely at Matthew’s teaching and his picture of Jesus.
Canon Peter Sills, formerly Vice-Dean of Ely, is a retired priest and pilgrimage guide attached to the Beacon Parish of Ditchling, Streat & Westmeston.
