Please join us for our February Speaker Coffee Morning.Doors will open at 10:15 for serving of refreshments, mingling and purchase of raffle tickets. The one hour talk will commence at 11:00, followed by questions. The cost is £10.
Our guest speaker will be Helen Fry - 'Women in Intelligence: a hidden history'
Historian Dr Helen Fry has written over 25 books on the Second World War with particular reference to British intelligence, espionage and the secret war. Her latest book is 'The White Lady' about two key British Secret Service networks in Belgium, in wartime.
Her book 'Women in Intelligence' is a groundbreaking, panoramic history of the rich and varied intelligence roles that women undertook as civilians intelligencers and in uniform across two world wars. Her other books include 'The Walls Have Ears; Spymaster: the Man who saved MI6', 'Inside Nuremberg Prison', and 'MI9: a history of the British secret service for escape & evasion'. She appears frequently in TV documentaries, radio broadcasts and podcasts. For the last fifteen years she has broadcast live with the BBC for the anniversaries of D-Day.
In 2022 Helen was recognised as a woman of achievement at the 'Women of the Year Lunch Awards'. In 2023 she received 'The Lifetime Achievement Award in Jewish Military History and Education'. She is an Ambassador for the Military Intelligence Museum.
Helen will be bringing copies of her latest book to give us an opportunity to buy a signed copy.
