Five-Way Split
About
Five-Way Split is a powerhouse contemporary jazz quintet bringing together five of the UK’s finest modern bebop musicians. Formed in 2020, the group is co-led by internationally acclaimed trumpet star Quentin Collins, Greek saxophone virtuoso Vasilis Xenopoulos, and the golden-touch pianist Rob Barron, with Mátyás Hofecker on double bass and Matt Home on drums providing a rhythm section of world-class precision and drive.Drawing inspiration from Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers and the contemporary New York bop scene, Five-Way Split channels the spirit of hard bop while propelling it firmly into the modern era. Their sound combines the energy and swing of the jazz greats with the freshness and creativity of today’s scene.
With a repertoire spanning imaginative original compositions and reimagined classics by Jimmy Heath, Cedar Walton, and Horace Silver, the band delivers performances that are both soulful and exhilarating — a true celebration of the art of swing.
Signed to Ubuntu Music, Five-Way Split embodies the label’s reputation for excellence and innovation in contemporary jazz, continuing the deep artistic partnership between Rob Barron and Ubuntu co-founder Quentin Collins.
