The City of Sheffield Youth Orchestra is one of the UK's leading independent youth orchestras, providing valuable orchestral and musical training to players aged 13-21 years.
The winter concert programme begins with Saariaho’s atmostpheric Ciel d’Hiver (Winter Sky), bringing a frosty, seasonal touch to the evening. In contrast, the warmth and lyricism of Brahms 2nd Symphony will help to dispel the cold, aided by Hispanic rhythms of Ravel’s sinuous Bolero - a chance for every section of the orchestra to shine as the solos snake around the orchestra.
