Racial Equity in Policy Network meeting - Fireside Chat
About
When Cohesion and Contact are not enough: Dialogues for Building Bridges Across Divides.Dr Eseonu will be in conversation with Joy Warmington, CEO of brap (www.brap.org.uk). Joy spearheads brap's work on learning and change. Joy’s area of expertise is leadership and organisational development, and she applies this lens to the work that brap does with organisations, boards, and leadership teams.
Our conversation will be a reflexive one, where we will discuss the 'contact theory hypothesis' in the context of growing polarisation. Contact theory assumes that positive interaction between different social groups can reduce prejudice and promote cohesion. We will also reflect on the possibilities of the deep democracy methodology for this moment. Deep democracy delves into tensions by creating intentional spaces where conflict, dissent, and complexity can be surfaced, heard, and worked with – and not shut down.
Join us to hear our perspectives on potential pathways forward in the struggle for racial justice within this polarised climate.
