As You Like It, By William Shakespeare
An anarchic adaptation of Shakespeare’s classic and timeless piece is set to burst on to the stage in the YPH at St Helen and St Katharine from 2 – 4 February 2022 at 7pm. Transported from 1603 to c.1963, this musical adaptation is Shakespeare’s As You Like It, but not as you know it! In a stuffy and backward looking Westminster, under the control of the scheming Duke Frederick and those she controls, no one is free to be themselves. Meanwhile, in the free-thinking Carnaby Street of the swinging 60s, the followers of the banished Duke Senior provide a welcome refuge for those fleeing the tyranny of Westminster, giving them an opportunity to discover themselves and those they love without fear or judgement. A toe tapping, tongue in cheek romp through the streets of London. If you’re hip we’ll see you at the Carnaby Cave!
There will be a 15 minute interval during which there will be an opportunity to stretch your legs in the Quad outside.
Please note that due to potential unavoidable absences of cast members in the current climate, it is possible that there will be some disruption to our performances. We hope that things will be able to go ahead as planned, but in the case of cast member absence, someone would be asked to read in for the part, using a script during the performance.
COVID Information
We kindly ask that you wear a face covering on your arrival at SHSK and continue to wear this during the performance and whilst moving around the buildings.
Please do not attend if you feel unwell.
