JAGS Parent Talk: Dr Fiona Peters

JAGS Parent Talk: Dr Fiona Peters

Perfectionists V High Achievers

Understanding the differences between being motivated to do our best or being motivated by fear and the desire to be perfect. These subtle differences can have a significant impact on our self-esteem.

Dr Fiona Peters is a Qualitative Sociologist who uses Psychosocial methods and evidenced-based research to produce knowledge. She has extensive experience of working with young people in schools and in children’s residential care.

Her academic book ‘Fostering Mixed Race Children’ was published by Palgrave Macmillan and short-listed for the BSA Philip Abrams prize. Her second book proposal was selected for the HarperCollins Author Academy 2021.

Fiona is currently working with organisations such as Universal Music and the Rees Foundation to raise awareness of the impact of Neurodiversity. She facilitates workshops and training sessions, that encourage safe communication, to improve the everyday experience and outcomes of people with Neurodivergent thinking.

Fiona started her career in broadcasting, making documentaries, and is addicted to storytelling, in all forms, to forge human connection.

She manages an Under 13 football team for girls. Ask her about her crazy Cockapoo.
