This acclaimed solo play tells the compelling and inspiring story of Britain’s WW1 conscientious objectors. 
January 1916: Bert Brocklesby is a schoolteacher and preacher at his Methodist chapel; Bertrand Russell is one of the greatest philosophers of his time. With the advent of military conscription their worlds are about to be turned upside down. 

THIS EVIL THING, which has now played for over a 100 performances to all parts of the UK,
as well as 17 performances to historic peace churches in the USA, comes to Bristol again on Easter Sunday - 100 years after the first C.O.s were released from prison.

The Crypt, St John The Baptist Church

Please note that this is a medieval building. The crypt entrance is narrower and lower than a modern door. There are three and a bit steps down into the crypt totalling approximately 610mm in height. There is no handrail. The floor surface is uneven. There are no onsite toilet facilities but arrangements have been made for audience members to use facilities nearby
