Kendal Walking Festival events may take place in remote areas and involve travelling in mountainous and remote environments, some elements of risk cannot be removed, indeed a degree of risk is an integral part of some of our walks.

All trips are carefully planned in areas which have been assessed in advance, and risks are carefully calibrated to the level of difficulty published on the website.

All walk leaders are experienced, having worked and led groups in the environments of the planned walks previously. Risk assessments will be carried out before every expedition.

All walks clearly state the grade of effort and difficulty. Please do not book onto a walk that is beyond your capabilities.
The website also lists "What to bring" for each event.

Decisions about the precise activities and routes chosen on any day will be made by the walk leader in charge, taking account of the participants’ capabilities, weather conditions, ground conditions and any other relevant factors. The judgement of the walk leader is key to making good decisions in a dynamic environment. Participants are expected to follow the guidance of the walk leader. If participants chose to disregard the guidance of the walk leader, they are no longer covered under our public liability insurance.
