The exact start time of the walk will be confirmed on the day, as this will depend on the official guide's assessment that morning. As of January 13th 2026 we have been advised of a 14:30hrs start.

Owing to the nature of this walk the event may be cancelled should it be deemed unsafe. In the event of the walk being cancelled, your ticket money will instead be treated as a donation to Bendrigg Trust (registered charity 508540).

Dogs are welcome. This year the Guide over Sands Trust has specified that there should be no more than 2 dogs per adult. They are your responsibility at all times. Should they 'run off' you must NOT follow them. The official guide is responsible for your safety on the sands. You must listen to all his instructions before and during the walk. If you need any assistance during the walk please make this known to the official marshals who will be wearing special T-shirts.

Transport is not provided. There are two options. Park at Grange and get the train across and your car is ready for you when you reach the finish (anywhere near Kents Bank) or park at Arnside, walk across and get the train back from Grange to Arnside.

Train tickets need to be pre booked with prices from £3.30 per person use the trainline website.
